'Fringe Science'—A Tautology, Not Pariah

This joint Editorial is uncustomary but motivated by the authors’ shared concern about problem of scientism, i.e., excessive belief in power scientific knowledge or techniques (Bauer, 2014; Gasparatou, 2017; Pigliucci, 2018) what some authors have described as arrogance authority (Butler, 2015). On this issue, Frank (2021) noted that
 The most important reason [scientism] a mistake because it confused it’s defending. Without doubt, science unique, powerful, and wonderful. It should be celebrated, needs to protected. Scientism, on other hand, just metaphysics, there are lots metaphysical beliefs. (para. 7)
 We further anticipate that scientism involves rigidity research topics branded ‘acceptable’ vs. ‘heretical.’ implication here being issues offensive orthodox sensibilities they presumably (a) no value generating new knowledge, (b) undermine confidence evidence for current thought.
 To clarify, orthodoxy simply majority view present-day professional experts institutions assert; not guaranteed faithful Nature’s reality. In criticizing anything contrary mainstream thinking, implicitly conveyed currently held always trusted used basis actions. Explicitly, course, even fervent groupies will admit process infallible. But everything unorthodox denigrated faulted, subliminally asserted reigning views can trusted; thus, conviction certainty expressed when actual lacking 2014) with apparently an overt deniability done deliberately.
